About

Lighting design and consulting for professional, community, and school theatre

Michael has been involved in theatre and stage production since the 1980s. He has been designing lighting for school, community, and independent theatre for 35 years, and has worked on the crew of major commercial productions including The Phantom of the Opera, The New Rocky Horror Show, and 42nd Street.

Theatre is about story telling—Michael’s approach to lighting is always in support of the story. He aspires to evocative, sensitive lighting that enhances the visual and emotional impact of a performance, using light to convey time, space, mood, and focus. He works closely with the director and other creatives to contribute to the overall concept, providing an emotional and visual context for the themes and intent of the work.
